FEATURED MUSICIANS FOR EREV YOM KIPPUR

A native of New Zealand and a graduate of Boston University and the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, Dr. Christopher Hutton is an accomplished cellist who has performed across the globe and worked with a number of orchestras, including the New World Symphony and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the Furman University faculty in 2003, Dr. Hutton taught at the University of Rochester, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of Delaware. He is the cellist for the Greenville-based Poinsett Piano Trio, a group that has performed as part of the Temple’s Music on Sunday concert series.

Director of the Men’s and Women’s chorales and collaborative pianist in the Music Department at Furman University, Dr. Vivian Hamilton also serves as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Greenville. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music (piano performance) and the University of South Carolina (choral conducting), she studied with world-renowned orchestral conductors Daniel Lewis and Edvard Tchivzhel before working with choirs at Simmons College, Emerson College, the University of South Carolina, Northeastern University, and Clemson University.

The Temple of Israel invites our Jewish brothers & sisters from the Upstate Jewish community to join us for services for the High Holy Days. Food pantry – this year we’re requesting donations of canned corn and canned green beans. These items can be left in the Temple foyer during the High Holy Days. We thank you!
